Last Updated: January 2025

1. Introduction

Welcome to BlockScout, Inc. ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). BlockScout Law (blockscout.law) is a product of BlockScout, Inc. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of BlockScout Law and all related services, including our website, platform, and any related applications or tools (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

BlockScout Law provides probabilistic blockchain screening and knowledge-gathering tools intended as a first step in legal discovery — not as certified forensic reports or legal advice. Please read Section 7 carefully for a full description of the nature and limitations of our Services.

2. Eligibility

To use our Services, you must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction. By accessing or using our Services, you represent and warrant that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Account Registration

3.1 Account Creation:

You may need to create an account to access certain features of the Services. You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration and to update your information as needed to keep it accurate and current.

3.2 Account Security:

You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Please notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to or use of your account.

3.3 Account Termination:

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion, including for any violation of these Terms or if we believe your account may be compromised.

4. Acceptable Use

By using the Services, you agree not to:

  • Engage in any illegal activities or violate any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Use the Services in any way that could harm, disable, overburden, or impair the functionality of our systems.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services, user accounts, or networks connected to our Services.
  • Use any automated systems, such as bots or spiders, to access the Services.
  • Share your account credentials with others or allow anyone else to access your account.
  • Post or transmit any content that is harmful, abusive, harassing, or otherwise objectionable.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Ownership:

All content, trademarks, and other intellectual property on or available through the Services are the property of BlockScout, Inc. or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our prior written permission.

5.2 Limited License:

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the Services for personal or internal business purposes in compliance with these Terms.

6. Fees and Payments

6.1 Paid Features:

Some features of the Services may require payment. By accessing or using these features, you agree to pay all applicable fees.

6.2 Changes to Fees:

BlockScout, Inc. reserves the right to modify fees for paid features at any time. We will notify you in advance of any changes to fees that affect your use of the Services.

6.3 Refunds:

All payments are non-refundable, except as required by law or as explicitly stated in these Terms.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

7.1 No Warranties:

The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. BlockScout, Inc. does not guarantee that the Services will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted.

7.2 Limitation of Liability:

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BlockScout, Inc. will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, arising from or related to your use or inability to use the Services.

7.3 Nature of the Service — Probabilistic Screening, Not Forensic Certification:

BlockScout Law is a first-screening and knowledge-gathering tool. It is not a certified forensic accounting service, and its outputs are not certified forensic reports. The Service analyzes publicly available blockchain data — specifically incoming and outgoing transactions associated with a submitted wallet address — and applies statistical methods to identify connections that are likely to belong to the same individual. These connections are surfaced as probabilistic suggestions based on statistical transaction patterns, not as determinations of ownership or fact.

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • All findings are probabilistic. Suggested wallet connections are based on statistical transaction patterns and do not constitute proof of wallet ownership or asset control.
  • Reports are a starting point, not a conclusion. The Service is designed to identify leads for further legal investigation — including subpoenas to cryptocurrency exchanges and certified forensic analysis — not to replace those processes.
  • Reports are not admissible as evidence on their own. Findings should be verified through formal legal discovery before being relied upon in legal proceedings.
  • Reports should be used as part of a broader legal discovery process, not as the sole basis for legal decisions.
  • You are responsible for conducting your own due diligence and verification of any information contained in reports.
  • BlockScout, Inc. makes no representations or warranties regarding the completeness, accuracy, or reliability of any report or data provided through the Services.

Blockchain data is inherently subject to limitations including: the availability and accuracy of on-chain data at the time of analysis; the use of privacy-enhancing technologies that may obscure transaction details; potential gaps or inaccuracies in third-party attribution sources; and the evolving nature of blockchain networks and protocols. You agree to use reports at your own risk and to consult qualified legal and technical professionals as needed.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless BlockScout, Inc., its affiliates, and its and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or related to your use of the Services or violation of these Terms.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and share your personal information. By using our Services, you consent to the collection and use of your information as outlined in the Privacy Policy.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved in the courts located in Delaware.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated Terms on our website or by other means. Your continued use of the Services after any changes signifies your acceptance of the new Terms.
